Poetic Nightingale (Dedicated to Poets of the Fall)

Poetic Nightingale

I hope you read this and understand,
that a simple song, a single note,
can create a spark in time,
For a life to be rewrote.

You are our Nightingale,
in the darkness of our lives,
your melody will always be there
reminding us we will survive.

There is no brighter light,
then the one you create,
that takes flight,
to carry our tremendous weight.

We love you for the emotions
that you show us we have
we love you for making us smile
when we feel sad.

Our Poetic Nightingales we give our gratitude,
for going above and beyond it all.
You are forever loved, and valued,
for you are our Poets of the Fall.

Only a Mothers Love...

"Mom, please tell me what to do,
I'm so disappointed in you
You said those words that made me cry,
And you always wondered why
Why I sing my lullaby"

Lullaby by Maria Mena

Every time I listen to this song I am reminded of my Mother.

I was blessed to be born with the Mother that I was born to. Growing up she did so much for us, went beyond, and still does. She has the strength that I think any daughter would want to carry on from their Mother, and love that reminds me daily of my Grandmother, who had the same kind of love in her heart. She has guided us, loved us (even when we least deserve it), and most of all has taught us to be kind, honest, free thinking women.

Their are Daughters in this world that will never know this affection. That will never watch their Mother drop everything to rush to their aid, or grow up knowing that no matter what you will always have at least one person standing behind you, giving you that push.

I believe that is why this song always brings tears to my eyes, because I feel sad for all those that maybe weren't as lucky, or lost their mother to disease, or an accident.

Mothers Day is coming on the 12th, a time of giving thanks for what our Mothers have done for us, still do for us, and will continue to do for us. Remember, it isn't always the fancy gifts that matter most, but rather the ones that originate from the heart.

Also, depending on your relationships, give thanks to your Grandmother. My Grandmothers have both passed, but I always silently give a special thanks to my Mommom, who as my whole family can attest to, spread her love, and free spirit to everyone she could touch. Her family was her crowning jewel and there was never a time she didn't show it through her love.

Spread your wings, open your arms, and make the most out of life with your loved ones. Cherish your Mothers, there will be a time when 'goodbye' is indefinite, so there is no time like the present, or this coming Mothers Day, to tell her just how much you love her.

For mother's sake the child was dear,
and dearer was the mother for the child.

- Samuel Taylor Coleridge, English poet

For my Mother, and all the loving Mothers that have given their endless love to their children.

Humanity; lost but not forgotten.

"We are young!
But we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong
We don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart

We will fight or we will fall
'til the angels save us all"

Lyrics to a song called Young by Hollywood Undead.

In the light of recent events that have happened in Boston today, I sat here thinking about the youth of America. I have read articles that state that the Teenagers of today are troublemakers that do nothing but beat up others, and cause havoc in their communities.

Teens these days have to go through so much more then we ever had to face, and yet we condemn them to a fate based on the actions of others. A tragic school shooting happens, and I suddenly start to see all over the internet, "Teens are nothing but trouble!". We need to start correcting our brains, and remembering we can't generalize a group of people based off a few. We need to also remember that times are different now; they have it harder then we ever did. I have only been out of High School for 11 years, and I have noticed the tremendous difference between then and now.

I started thinking about if I really wanted to bring a child into this world. Would it be fair to condemn them to a society that judges others based off the actions of a few? Would it be kind of me to introduce them into a world filled with hatred, injustice, and blind eyes? To give them hope that the world is a kind and fair place, where dreams can happen, when in reality that just isn't so anymore. To shape them to be moral citizens, and kind humans in a world where love, faithfulness, honesty, and kinship seems to be a dying belief?

Then I remembered a quote I heard a long time ago that went something like this "If you change one man for the better then you have changed many". The quote basically says that by changing one person they will go on and change another; the cycle will continue...

What happened in Boston today was tragic, and a senseless act of violence, but the the actions of so many was courageous and amazing to watch. Men and Women, that stepped up to help the victims seconds after it happened showed how strong we are as humans. Whatever faith I had lost in humanity was reignited by the selfless acts of those that reached out to help, when they had a chance to run away.

It became a fight to pull down the barriers, and rush to the aid of whoever needed it. No worry of if another bomb might be close by; just pure thoughts on the injured, and giving them the attention they so desperately needed.

If only life could be like that everyday; what a world we would have. People not worried about lifes barriers, and more concerned about the human that is suffering and needing a hand to guide them. To stop judging, and  to start bringing humanity back into this world.

To actually start being Humans again, and not just categorized off our Race, Creed, or Country; to be siblings  united by one common goal... happiness.

As Charlie Chaplin said in the film The Great Dictator:

"We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others’ happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge as made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in man; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all."

The introduction:

The title of this blog may not be a dead giveaway of what it is all about because as a writer I tend to wander in my head. Who knows what will end up here but whatever it is it will be interesting.

Lingeringto dwell in contemplation, thought, or enjoyment

MuseBe absorbed in thought. (n. a source of inspiration)

Providing meanings of words should help with understanding the name/wording of "Lingering Muse". I might be inclined to explain it in detail later on but for right now take what you will with what is given.

Do not expect to find details on how to knit your next sweater or how to tie-die that antique chair you bought at the neighbors garage sale. That will not be here, try Pinterest for that, I hear they have tons of nifty ideas floating about there!

Still interested? Well okay then!

Have you ever heard a song that made you sit back and start writing or living a story in your head?

It is one of the most interesting things that always happens to me. I start to see a book I have read or one that I hope to put together one day and well lets just say I end up coming back to reality hours later.

I have been writing since I was young, it was always a release for me. Writing became a way to put down the wild thoughts that were always running through my head, thoughts that made no sense until put on paper. When I didn't write I felt those ideas, thoughts, needs, and wishes just build up to a point where it felt like an over load.

Imagine a barrel filling with water after every storm, never being emptied. Finally during one storm the barrel starts to over flow and everything that it held started to escape in a uncontrolled fashion. It is nothing but a huge mess that someone will need to clean up at some point.

That is how my mind works, the need to express is strong and without the ability to do that it becomes a mess.

So, there you have it. This blog will be just that, a joint effort between my brain and fingers. A collaboration that has been long forgotten and ignored.
